Lars Behrenroth (Los Angeles, CA)

From his early days DJing at a local dance school in Germany to headlining a 25,000 people music festival in South Africa 31 years later, He has been moving dance floors all over the world.

Lars Behrenroth has played at world-renowned clubs like DEEP, Distillery, Motor City Lounge, Stereo, Queens, and enjoying a massively growing fan base in South Africa. During several tours, Lars headlines events all over the country. Alongside Black Coffee, Culoe De Song, Black Motion, Osunlade, Rocco, Nick Holder, Atjazz, Alton Miller and many more.

While in Hamburg, Lars attended audio engineering school where he completed his first remix projects in 1996. That same year, Lars began co-hosting “House Sound of Hamburg” on a local radio station. This marked the beginning of his impressive radio career. In 1998, he successfully brought the exclusive mix show to Evosonic Radio. A Europe-wide electronic and dance music radio station. The weekly three-hour show was very successful. It hosted guest DJs such as Mateo & Matos, Paul Johnson, and DJ Pierre to name a few. In addition, he also signed with Hamburg labels “Records Of Interest” and “Tracks Of Interest”. He joined the ranks of Knee Deep, Vincenzo, and Lovebirds.

Lars Behrenroth’s highly acclaimed radio show, “Deeper Shades of House” is celebrated its 15 year anniversary in 2017. The program started out on German radio station Jam FM. Shortly after, syndicated on US nationwide satellite XM Radio. It can now be heard on over 30 stations worldwide and is featured on iTunes as an essential podcast. The show reached a milestone of over 8 million listeners each month. DSOH is a weekly showcase of Lars’ versatile but very selective musical range. It is evident that the way he programs his sets, makes him stand apart from the rest. The show also features guest mixes by international DJs. The radio show also was nominated as Best Podcast in the 2011 and 2013 IDMA in Miami.

Lars has developed his production skills over the past 20 years to the point where he has accumulated an impressive discography. He has appeared over a variety of labels including Freerange, Compost, Sonar Kollektiv, Liebe*Detail and etc. He has remixed many major artists. Such talented artists as Atjazz, Robert Owens, Liquideep, Dubtribe Sound System, MJ Cole, Arnold Jarvis, The Rurals, Beyonce, Sven Weisemann, Tamara Wellons, Rocco, Black Coffee, and amongst others.

The next logical step on the way to creating a global Deep House brand was founding an in-house record label, Deeper Shades Recordings. The label is now home to 59 digital releases featuring many new and upcoming artists as well as established names in the industry.

Soul Candi, South Africa’s largest House Music label, recently commissioned Lars for a mixed compilation. The compilation is entitled “Soul Candi Sessions – For The Fans” 2CD release, exclusively available at the largest SA music retail chain, Musica SA.
